About Lumberjill
Lumberjill LLC is your resource for simplifying the construction process. We are hired by homeowners to interpret "construction speak" into layman's terms. We are always expanding our network of high-quality subcontractors and vendors, to be a resource beyond what we bring ourselves. When communication is clear and honest, the remodel and construction process can be smooth and much less intimidating... sometimes even fun!
Owner Alison Kartiganer first cut her teeth on construction when helping her parents restore and remodel an 1895 house in New England as a high schooler. She never looked back: her experience grew with theater set carpentry, a woodworking apprenticeship, many years of remodeling project management and facility management, green building and construction management education, and starting and running a home performance company.
The term "green building" has come to mean many things, and is often overused. At Lumberjill, our philosophy is that a sustainably built home is one that will last and bring joy for generations, with the least amount of impact to the site and planet during all phases -- demolition, material sourcing, construction, and operation. The design and material options broaden every year, and become more affordable, allowing you to increase energy efficiency and improve indoor air quality while reducing the use of finite natural resources and harmful ingredients. Not surprisingly, studies are showing that homes built to the more common green guidelines sell more quickly and for more money.
